About

Pictures, mostly mine, but some from my photography mentor, Dad; stories for my daughters; Mom and Dad’s words of wisdom; some rememberin’ and cookin’ with Mother.  Mom wrote a cooking article for the local newspaper years ago, suitably called Humble Pie.  And so, for you, a slice of mine, be it ever so humbled.

  1. I really enjoyed reading the story about your mom joining the choir. And I have to agree, God was probably laughing right along with you. Man, there’s nothin’ better than a great laugh. I look forward to enjoying more of your photography and stories as a new follower of your blog.

  2. Thank you for taking the time to read my recent post, “Picture this: Australia’s green desert” – I’m delighted you liked it! And now I’m off to browse your blog… 🙂

  3. Well, y’all stopped by and ‘liked’ my rusty vehicles. I couldn’t miss your southern hospitality and my daddy was from Alabama, so of course I was hooked into staying and visiting. You will be pleased to know that reading about the fart, oops capital FART, had me laughing along with God and my kin.

  4. Welcome aboard, Humbled Pie. It’s good to meet you.
Fascinating blog you have here … we particularly like the old photos of your Dad and the SS Del Dud which brought back our own memories of St Thomas.
    Best wishes,
    Miles and Pippa

  5. Hi and thanks for liking my spring post and for following my blog! I’ll have to check back here a little later as I’m supposed to be working (waiting for a file to upload…). But so far I LOVE the golden bougainvillea. I had no idea there were golden ones!

  6. Thanks for checking out my brand new blog. My girlfriend has been bugging me to share my pictures and writings (to come soon). You have some great shots here, and I will visit often.

  7. Gorgeous photos throughout! So happy you followed my blogs which led me to finding yours. Love your tagline… and only slightly embellished Storytellin’ 🙂

  8. Homer – your photography caught my attention first, then it was the writing about the South and Southern living. Please allow me to nominate you for the Kreativ Blogger award. Thank you for all you’ve done to open-out your world for us.

  9. Thank you for following my blog! Your photography is beautiful and has such a Southern charm. As an Alabama gal, I think this is the most beautiful part of the country, and you capture it so well!

  10. Thanks for stopping by and deciding to follow my blog. I grew up in Pensacola and love oysters any way you can get them. I looked at your oyster stew recipe and it is similar to what my mom used to cook. Sure makes me wish I had some of it right now. I enjoyed looking at some of your photos as well.

  11. I am honoured to nominate you for the One Lovely Blog Award! Please pick up your award at http://travelswithtoby.wordpress.com/. Copy and Paste the Award to your blog and follow the rules of acceptance. I am very aware that some people do not wish to participate in Awards, and I completely respect that… no strings! 13. If you haven’t already received the Reality Blog Award (I didn’t see it on your wall) now you have. Hang it proudly. Here is the shortlink http://wp.me/p2828d-iQ
If you have already received it (and have it hidden) you are just too darn special. At least a few of us think so.

  14. Honeylamb, you’re on a roll with buttah. I’ve nominated you for “The Versatile Blogger Award.” It’s basically just a way for one blogger (me) to share some love with other bloggers whose work they admire (that’d be you). There are a few logistics involved, but nothing terribly fussy, so here’s the link: http://wp.me/p1XDRR-au. If you choose not to participate I totally understand, either way I love your blog.

  15. i think i will enjoy your blog. nice to know that so many photographers like my site..80% is not my stuff i just post to get mood etc.. though i do love the masters, by masters i mean dudes like Ansel Adams, Eugene Smith, Paul Strand

  16. Spectacular photo’s! Thank you for dropping by wePoets, it’s much appreciated. We’d be happy to showcase your photography or story tellin if you should want to share. If so, our theme and submission pages explain everything. 🙂

  17. Homer, I am very glad that you sent me the link to your blog. I have needed to set up at least one for myself for nearly forever. Perhaps I will use this as the kick in the pants to get it done. Re: the post that I responded to on FaceBook. I too LOVE the old film negatives and positives that I have jealously gurded for many years. I have a large archive of my time in service as well as a large group of photos, mainly chromes from the start up and first four years of Spirit. I really need to get those things scanned and categorized.
